On the bus ride from the airport we noticed that New Caledonia is very green. The people are very friendly and welcoming.

Today we arrived at our hotel Le Pacifique in New Caledonia. Everyone was so tired that on the bus trip, because of our early morning, we all slept. We got really scared because we thougt that we were driving on the wrong side of the road, but then we realised that is how they drive here as French laws are followed here.

By the time we got to reception, it was our first connection to our social life since Sydney. To our teachers horror, we spent a good 30 minutes attached to our phones. La piscine est très magnifique and it has an island in the middle of it, great for tanning. There are two girls per room, the views are superbe and they are very chalereux cosy.

Then it was time for déjeuner (lunch) on the waterfront. We were able to pick our own lunch and we had to order by ourselves in French. It was very funny because we all were too nervous in case we made a mistake. We ordered frites. After lunch, everyone went to the pool because it was very hot but the water was cold so the brave ones jumped in and the others just dangled their feet in.

For dinner we went to la Térrasse at the Hilton. As we walked to the restaurant we stopped and looked at the sunset (Le coucher duSoleil) It was an amazing orange sunset.

We had a delicious three course meal which included Le poulet, les pommes de terre purées and an amazing crême brûlée which was the highlight of the meal.
